Aside from continuing the Go West assault on the Charts of 1985 Goodbye Girl marks a vital moment in the evolution of the Band into the smooth and ultra cool Go West that we still recognise today. Goodbye Girl was the guys first Ballad and what a cracker it is: intelligent, haunting and with a soulful performance from Peter Cox that makes it sound as if his heart was breaking while he sang every note this was a revelation. For the video gone were the macho boys in leather and instead we had Peter Cox and Richard Drummie looking and sounding cool and sensitive. It showed that this duo was capable of far more then just bouncy pop tunes and had a capacity for intelligent Lyrics that was to continue to engage fans for Decades to come. A fantastic single and video that you simply should not manage without.
